
Carlos José Mattos Barrero is a Colombian businessman with a career that combines business leadership, social impact, and a deep family tradition linked to the economic development of the Colombian Caribbean. Born in Codazzi, Cesar, he comes from the Barrero-Ávila and Mattos-Lacouture lineages, historic families that contributed for more than a century to the agricultural and livestock progress of the region.
Educated in the United States, he is a graduate of Babson College and a participant in Harvard University's prestigious Owner/President Management Program (OPM). He subsequently served for 12 years on the Board of Trustees of Babson College, during which time the institution inaugurated Carlos J. Matos Hall, an academic building named in his honor.
